Students taking EAMCET 2010 will get their results and ranks via SMS. This move was initiated as a redressal to the grievances of students belonging to rural areas who could not access the results on the EAMCET website.
Announcing this new initiative to the media, D N Reddy, Convener, EAMCET committee and Vice Chancellor, JNTU, said, "The marks and ranks will be sent to the phone numbers provided by the students in the application forms. This will help students from rural areas to get their results even if they do not have access to Internet." Results will be available on the website - www.apeamcet.org
According to officials, EAMCET results will be out in a phased manner like in the previous year with the marks announced first and the ranks after the announcement of intermediate results.
"Marks scored by students will be out by June 20. Once we get the students' intermediate marks, Eamcet ranks will be out," added Reddy.
Talking to the media about number of students about the number of applicants for the exam, M V Ramanarao, EAMCET convener said, "Of the 3,78,006 students who have applied to for the examination, 3,24,359 are for engineering stream and 53,647 for medical and agriculture stream. "The number of applicants for engineering has gone up compared to the previous year's 3,11,758. But in medical stream the applications have gone down from last year's 65,630."
EAMCET 2010 is scheduled to be held on May 30 and the hall tickets for the exam will be issued from April 30.
